Who am I? I’ve spent two decades working at the intersection of content, community and communications in the technology, media and music industries.
Ever since I was young, I was an evangelist for the things I loved, be it sports or music. That enthusiasm has grown into me telling stories across media platforms and helping people and communities come into their own. Working with and managing communities as diverse as science fiction fans, independent musicians, sports lovers, startups and virtual world builders has meant I’ve been able to make an impact on a worldwide scale.
Wanting to tell people about the things I love turned into a career as creative communications professional working across digital, print and broadcast media. I’ve been hosting and producing radio for twenty years. My passion led me to become the host of CBC Radio’s Just Concerts and put me in my current position as host and producer of Vancouver’s longest running electronic music radio show.
You get good at waking the town and telling the people and other people want to work with you. I’m lucky to have curated and created content for the likes of iTunes, BC Hydro and the Vancouver Heritage Foundation.
I’ve even taken it international, producing and marketing events across North America and around the world. My habit of being ahead of the game meant I was the first person to bring dubstep music to Vancouver.
That habit has also meant that at one time or another I’ve worked in and around streaming media, digital content, virtual reality, online gaming, Blockchain tech, sports betting and venture capital.
My instinct for the next big thing remains. The desire to tell people about the things that are making the hair on the back of my neck stand up now is as it was when I first started writing in the late 90s.
