Content Curation

iTunes Essentials:

From 2005-2010, I worked with the team at Hackmart in Los Angekes to curate playlists for the iTunes store. When you went to the essentials section, you’d find collections of what was available on the store that you could purchase all in one go. This would be the best of an artist, a genre, or a playlist reflecting a mood or a task. Because of my background in electronic music, I was brought in to work on Essentials lists covering the artists and sub-genres in that area.

Place: Vancouver

I was asked by James Healy of the Air Texture label to curate the Vancouver edition of his Place: benefit release series. Place is a country or area specific electronic music compilation series where all proceeds are donated to local groups working on social causes in that area. I contacted Vancouver artists who are at the cutting edge across tempos and genres in the electronic music scene and we whittled it down to a final twenty. All proceeds from the compilation goes to Pacific Wild, a non-profit located in the heart of the Great Bear Rain Forest on Denny Island.

TKG Music

2008 was the year I started my record label, TKG Music. I have curated releases, produced art work, promoted the releases and worked with international distributors to get the music into stores.

Global Media

Global Media was a startup that specialized in online radio stations, I was the content manager. It had a custom white label version of the Real Audio player that allowed you to deliver news on every artist that was playing on a dozen channels and sell CDs directly to the listener.
